Our Story

Triple T Farms History

     Triple T Farms was established in 1995 when Jason, Tom, and Wes Thompson rented their mother's 80 acres of dryland and 160 acres of pasture. Over the next 5 years they started renting some neighbors' farms and increased their equipment line. During that time Jason started working full-time for Triple T Farms. 

     In 2000, they purchased their first farm from a neighbor and continued to expand acres and started to background cattle. In 2002, they purchased their grandparents' farm and Wes started working full-time for Triple T Farms. 

     More land was acquired in 2009, then in 2010 a half section of land with a 6,000 head feedlot was purchased and the operation headquarters was moved off the home place to the new facility. In 2011, 240 acres next to the feedlot was purchased and more acres were rented.

     In 2017, Burwell Feeders, a 10,000 head custom feedlot was purchased to diversify the operation. Currently the operation consist of 5,000 acres of farm ground (90% irrigated) and 1,850 acres of pasture.  Over 1,500 acres of farm ground and 840 acres of pasture is owned. Triple T Farms also feeds out between 15,000-18,000 head per year of their own cattle and now custom feeds another 10,000 head annually. 

     The brothers operate as multiple stand alone companies including Triple T Farms, T5 Trucking LLC, T5 Land LLC, Jadaco, LLC, Davis Creek Storage LLC, and Burwell Feeders LLC. Additionally, the brothers partially own Bonanza Cattle Company in Albion, NE and TB Feeders, LLC west of Ord, NE.

Jason Thompson Family

     Jason worked on a neighboring ranch during high school and at a dairy while in college. He attended Northeast Community College earned a degree in Farm Ranch Management. After college, he worked for a local cattle company until he started working for Triple T Farms full-time. 

     He currently manages a 450 head cow-calf herd and runs a grower lot in Ord. 

     Jason lives north of Ord with his wife Jamie and their 2 children, Jacob and Jadyen. Jamie works at Country Partners Coop in Ord.

Tom Thompson Family

     Tom worked for a local feedlot in high school and college. He attended McCook Community College then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned a degree in Agronomy. During college, he worked for a soil testing lab, did research for the University, and worked as an independent crop consultant. After college, he worked as a location manager for Cenex Land O'Lakes in Oakdale, NE from 1998-2001. From 2001-2004, he worked as the location manager and agronomist for Country Partners Coop. 

     He started a crop consulting business in 2004 and did that part-time while working for Triple T Farms. Tom currently works full-time overseeing the financials for all of the entities. He buys and sells grain and livestock. He helps on the farm and feedlot when needed. 

     Tom lives south of Ord with his wife Stacy and youngest son Colton. They have 3 additional children, Kaleb, Landon, and Madison. His wife works that Ord Public Schools.

Wes Thompson Family

    Wes worked for area farmers during high school and college. He attended Tech School in Curtis and graduated with a degree in Farm Management. After college, he worked at a local feedlot. Later he began working for Country Partners Coop as an Applicator before working full-time at Triple T Farms. 

     Wes currently is the Farm manager at Triple T Farms, and his responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the farm. 

     Wes lives in Ord with his wife Jessica and their 3 children, Dawson, Reagan, and Haelyn. Jessica works at First National Bank in Ord.
